How it All Began

After one too many mystery kits filled with awkward themes, risqué costumes, and storylines we just weren’t comfortable handing to friends or a group of teens, we’d had enough.

We loved hosting mysteries, but we couldn’t find anything truly clean and family-friendly.

So, we built our own.

My childhood was steeped in imagination, creativity, plays, and games. We dressed in tablecloths and tramped through the woods as hobbits and elves. We wore graduation gowns and flitted from room to room, muttering about being late for potions class and what the last note about He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named meant. We reenacted everything: books, news reports, reality TV shows, favorite plays—even scenes from video games, where I ran around yelling “Hey! Listen!” while my sister collected gems from the hallway.

Mix that kind of childhood with a deep love for community, and it was only a matter of time before I started designing ways for people to laugh, dress up, and make memories together.

And the best part? Our kids jumped in with both feet. They helped brainstorm characters, painted props at the kitchen table, sprinkled fake sand into tiny bottles, and giggled nonstop about monkey trainers and clue cards. What started as a family project quickly became something bigger—and better—than we imagined.

So whether you spent your childhood flicking a wand and whispering “Expecto Patronum,” or you just want a reason to gather friends for a night of laughter—we invite you to step into the mystery.
